History

Frudata was founded in 1998 by Chris Ferrandi and Piet van der Merwe, who currently heads the company as CEO. Piet spent his early years working at the Elsenburg Agricultural Development Institute as an agricultural economist, primarily advising farmers, especially those in the export industry.

Later he worked as an agricultural economist at JD Kirsten (Pty) Ltd, a fourth-generation family-owned company. They specialise in the production and export of premium quality table grapes. His involvement was in strategic management.

About FruData

During that time, Piet met Chris Ferrandi and seeing the need for statistical data in the agricultural environment, they started Frudata. With his keen understanding of agriculture economics, especially in the export industry, he started Frudata with its raison d’être to help farmers become more profitable.

Frudata’s success is due to its deep understanding of many agricultural industries and the unbeatable value it provides its clients. We supply our producers with quality, actionable information based on accurate data.

CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role means meeting the needs of employees, customers, investors, communities, and the law. The CEO takes full responsibility for overall leadership, general tasks and strategic management of the business.

Salome van der Merwe

COO

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) ensure that the wheels of Frudata keep on turning and is responsible for the efficiencies within Frudata.

Pietman Wessels

Senior Economist

Economists are the backbone of the company and ensure that data are validated and give advice on norms seen. Pietman supports Citrus EC, Blueberries and Stone fruit surveys.

The Supply Chain Planner oversees the planning of all surveys and related activities to ensure that workflow and processes enables optimal productivity.

Jan-Hendrik Nelson

Junior Economist

Economists are the backbone of the company and ensure that data are validated and give advice on norms seen. Jan-Hendrik supports Citrus Limpopo and Table Grapes Limpopo.

Odette Leygonie

Project Coordinator

The Coordinator role is key in ensuring that the activities are executed pro-actively to ensure that the surveys run and complete on time as planned. The coordinators support the economists and work together as a team. Odette co-ordinates and supports Citrus WC and Limpopo, Table Grapes Orange River, Limpopo, Hex Valley, Berg River and Raisins surveys.

Lizanne Carstens

Data Engineer

The Data Engineer role is supportive to the economist role and integrates closely with the Survey Coordinator role within Frudata. While the Survey Coordinator role includes data collection, data validation, data processing, amongst other duties, the Data Engineer role is mainly data processing and verification for economic analysis purposes. Lizanne engineers data and information of all surveys.

Arend Kotze

Strategic Business Contractor

The Strategic Business Contractor assist Frudata in driving strategic change, business efficiency, business culture, financial business plan, align incentive schemes with the strategic direction of Frudata and ensure momentum is created and maintained. Assisting the CEO and other role players within Frudata.
